Embark on a full-day tour from the Silver Coast to explore Portugal’s rich history, religious landmarks, and UNESCO World Heritage sites. This immersive journey takes you through Tomar, the “Templar City,” the sacred village of Fátima, and the historic town of Batalha.
The adventure begins with a visit to Tomar, a city deeply tied to the Knights Templar. Explore the
Convent of Christ, a monumental complex that includes the Templar Castle of Tomar and the Convent of the Order of Christ. This architectural marvel, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983, was once the headquarters of the religious and military Orders of the Temple and Christ.
Next, we travel to the village of Aljustrel, home to the three shepherd children—Lúcia, Jacinta, and Francisco—who witnessed the apparitions of Our Lady in 1917. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to visit their original family homes and gain insight into their humble beginnings.
Afterward, enjoy lunch near the Sanctuary of Fátima (meal not included).
In the afternoon, we’ll visit the Sanctuary itself, one of the world’s most significant pilgrimage
sites. Explore the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary, the Basilica of the Holy Trinity, and the Chapel of the Apparitions.
The final stop is the Batalha Monastery. Built in 1386 by King John I to commemorate
Portugal’s victory at the Battle of Aljubarrota, this Gothic masterpiece is another UNESCO
World Heritage Site and a symbol of Portugal’s independence.
